Jazz on LP's - A Guide for Collectors - Published by the Decca Record Company Ltd - 1956

Introduction from the book cover -

"The fine collection of jazz records that you will find detailed and discussed in this book emphasizes the fact that long playing records and extended play records are the form in which we must expect to collect our future issues of jazz. The jam session style of record often taking up the whole of one side of a twelve-inch record is one of the new forms of jazz now with us, jazz suites will no doubt become more common and collected re-issues of classical jazz are already a boon to the ordinary collector, even if not regarded with such favour by the collectors of rare records.

This book lists all the jazz LP's on Decca, Brunswick, London, Felsted, Vogue-Coral, Ducretet-Thomson, Tele-funken and Durium labels issued up to July 1956. Its completeness and the fact that it is so far ahead of any other published discography make it a book of great value to everyone interested in recorded jazz. This is the second edition of this book and already the gap of just over a year since the previous edition has made it considerably larger and more expensive than its predecessor. This will probably be the last comprehensive edition and later volumes will only list items issued after the appearance of this present work."
