Jazz music is always developing. Jazz musicians are developing also, some as a result of changing fads and others by osmosis from the other musicians around them. It was this osmosis. This website is designed to be searched. You can search for all Jazz Musicians by name and see which albums they have performed on and the other jazz musicians that they have worked with.

Just to set the record straight, The vocals are by "Dorie Vincent", not "Gloria Vincent". I know, because that is my mother. She turned 88 the other day. Now I'd like to know if it's possible to get a copy of this recording (although I do have the part where she sings "When They Ask About You" -- I'd love to get ahold of "G.I. Jive"). Please contact me if you can; I'd really appreciate it (you can find my email and phone# on my site). Thanks again and thanks for the blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, Many thanks for the info regarding your mother's name and her part in this album. Usually, had you been in the UK, I would send you the album to listen to, but because you are in the USA I wouldn't expect it to survive the journey. I've had a search online to see if anyone else has a copy nearer to you, but haven't come up with anything as yet. I'll let you know if I do.
ReplyDeleteAll the best
Colin :-)
